In Kirov, electric trains with changing tables have been launched.
On Monday, May 25, the Kirov region officially updated two suburban routes. Instead of the usual electric trains on the Kirov – Balezino and Kirov – Yezhikh routes, trains of the EP3D series now operate. One of them was launched today at the regional center's station.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of the Gorky Railway, Sergey Malinin, the Minister of Transport of the Kirov Region, Artyom Drachkov, the Deputy Head of the GZhD for the Kirov Management, Alexey Rukavishnikov, and the head of the "Volga-Vyatka Passenger Company," Natalia Romanova.
Rukavishnikov stated that this is not just a replacement of rolling stock, but a new stage for suburban transportation. According to him, trips will become more comfortable, faster, and safer. Passengers will appreciate it later.
What's new inside? Ergonomic seats, power outlets for gadgets, luggage racks, and bike spaces. There is climate control with air purification. The steps have been made with a retractable step to make it easier to exit onto low platforms, which are still quite common in the region.
For passengers with disabilities, electric lifts have been installed in the first and last cars. Surveillance cameras have been installed throughout the cabin and on the roof—this is a requirement for transport safety and is not unnecessary.
For parents: there are children's play areas and changing tables in separate cars. You can also watch movies on the multimedia system or buy tea.
By the way, according to GZhD, there is demand for suburban trains in the region. From January to April 2026, 779,000 people used the electric trains.
You can check the schedule on the websites of RZD and vvppk.ru, by phone at 8 (800) 775-00-00, at the information desks at the stations, or at suburban ticket offices.
