Slutsky asked the FAS to look into the tricks of manufacturers.
Leonid Slutsky sent a letter to the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky, requesting a legal assessment of the practice of shrinkflation — the hidden reduction of the volume and weight of goods without a corresponding decrease in prices, reports the publication "RIA Novosti."
In the appeal, the politician asks to commission an investigation into the presence of signs of unfair competition in the actions of manufacturers of food and non-food products, as well as retail organizations.
Slutsky provides several examples. The weight of a pack of butter decreases from 200 to 180–150 grams, milk is sold not in one-liter packages, but in volumes of 950–900 milliliters, the packaging of buckwheat is now not one kilogram, but 900 or 800 grams, and a chocolate bar that used to weigh 100 grams becomes 90-, 85-, or even 75-grams. At the same time, prices remain the same or even increase.
Moreover, as noted in the letter, the design and overall appearance of the packaging remain unchanged, which gives the buyer a false impression that they are purchasing a familiar product of standard volume, weight, or quantity. According to Slutsky, this way the manufacturer gains an unjustified competitive advantage: their product is still perceived as more advantageous compared to the analogs of honest competitors.

Manufacturers are increasingly keeping the usual prices but reducing the weight or volume of products — from butter to chocolate. The leader of the LDPR, Leonid Slutsky, has appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly Service with a request to check such actions for unfair competition.
