Scammers swindled an 83-year-old resident of Kirov out of nearly four million rubles.
According to the Kirov region's Ministry of Internal Affairs, the criminals called a man on his landline. The interlocutors introduced themselves as employees of the Central Bank, the FSB, and Rosfinmonitoring. The pensioner was informed that there was allegedly a reissue of currency in the country, and therefore he needed to hand over his savings at home to an "authorized employee" for exchange. Believing the scammers, the man agreed to comply with their demands. Over the course of 10 days, two unknown female couriers came to his home. Initially, the pensioner handed over 2 million 550 thousand rubles, and then another 1 million 250 thousand rubles. The promised money was never returned to the man. After that, he contacted the police. Law enforcement officers are currently trying to identify the callers and couriers. The police once again remind the residents of the region: government officials never require handing over cash to strangers. Kirov residents are asked to warn their elderly relatives about this.
