Sokolov on the water shutdown in Murygino: "We need to apologize"
At the meeting, Governor Alexander Sokolov spoke about the sharp increase in complaints left on social media by residents of the Kirov region in recent days. The most complaints came from Kirovo-Chepetsk and Murygino. In the first case, hot water was turned off, and in the second, cold water.
The Ministry of Energy and Housing and Utilities reported that planned work was being carried out in Kirovo-Chepetsk to prepare for the autumn-winter period, including network pressure testing and defect elimination. As a result, hot water was turned off. It was turned back on on May 14.
As for Murygino, a defect was discovered in the cold water supply network on May 9, which was eliminated after 2.5 hours; however, during the water restart, four more breaks were found. To further eliminate breaks, the authorities decided to replace 80 meters of water pipe. During the repair period, water was supplied to homes, but at low pressure. Technical and bottled water was delivered to people. On May 14, water supply was fully restored, the ministry added.
Sokolov noted that there are not many negative comments on the internet regarding Kirovo-Chepetsk, unlike Murygino. He did not read them out loud, as "not all of them are pleasing to the ear." The governor expressed the opinion that the negativity in Murygino stemmed from local authorities not communicating enough with people and explaining what was happening. "We need to apologize to the people for not informing them and keeping them anxious," Sokolov said. He also instructed to hold a citizens' meeting and personally explain what happened and why.
