A resident of Kirov was sent to a penal colony for child support debts.

According to the prosecutor's office of the Lenin district, a resident of Kirov, despite the court's decision and the obligation to pay alimony to his son and daughter, evaded payments without valid reasons. As a result, he accumulated a debt of almost 30,000 rubles for June-July 2024. The court found the man guilty under part 1 of article 157 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. When sentencing, his previous convictions for similar crimes, as well as for theft, were taken into account. Ultimately, the resident of Kirov was sentenced to 11 months of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. The convicted man and his lawyer attempted to appeal the verdict, claiming that the punishment was excessively harsh; however, the appellate court upheld the decision without changes.
