39-year-old Russians have been proposed to be officially considered as youth.

      A specialist from the Russian Ministry of Health, the chief freelance geriatrician, stated that 39-year-olds can be considered young. The reason is the increase in life expectancy and the shifting of age boundaries. Modern people, from a functional perspective, age more slowly, remain active longer, and look good, reports the publication "RBK."

      Currently, in Russia, youth is officially defined as citizens aged 14 to 35. The geriatrician reminded that when life expectancy increases, a person has more opportunities to learn, acquire a new profession, and build a career. As a result, in one lifetime, they can achieve much more than before.

      This statement does not yet entail any changes in legislation. It specifically refers to a biological view of age. However, the very fact that the chief geriatrician of the Ministry of Health refers to 39-year-olds as youth highlights a trend: the boundaries of youth are shifting.
