7.4 billion rubles were stolen by fraudsters from bank customers.
The Central Bank summarized the results of the fight against fraudulent transfers for the first quarter of 2026. According to the regulator, in January-March, banks recorded nearly 16.8 million attempts to commit fraudulent operations and prevented the theft of 1.8 trillion rubles.
"The number of fraudulent operations reported by clients to banks amounted to 495.8 thousand, with a total volume of stolen money of 7.4 billion rubles," the regulator's website reports.
At the same time, as noted by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, there is a decrease in financial losses for individuals — by 10.2% compared to the same indicator for the fourth quarter of 2025. In relation to legal entities, a high intensity of computer attacks using malicious software was recorded in the first quarter of 2026. Typically, employees of legal organizations received emails with files, and upon downloading them, the attackers gained remote access to corporate systems, allowing fraudsters to transfer money to controlled accounts under the guise of ordinary business operations.
The regulator's website noted that in the first quarter of 2026, the Bank of Russia initiated the blocking of 10.5 thousand fraudulent websites and social media pages, as well as sent information about 8.3 thousand phone numbers used by fraudsters to telecommunications operators.
