Five patients are already being treated with the domestic cancer vaccine.
Currently, five patients are receiving a domestic cancer vaccine. This was reported on May 14 by the head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency, Veronika Skvortsova, who specified that a total of 35 people are in line for the drug. The first vaccinated individual has already undergone six injections. According to Skvortsova, the drug currently shows good tolerability, does not cause serious side effects, and provides exactly the immune response that the developers were hoping for. The vaccine is made personally for each patient based on their genetic material. To enter the program, a patient submits an application through the online portal (which has been operational since December), after which, within five working days, a council of leading oncologists decides whether the person needs vaccination. So far, it only concerns intestinal cancer. The FMBA warns that the real effectiveness of the drug can only be assessed after several months of observation of the vaccinated individuals. Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation reported the first case of using a personalized vaccine for inoperable or metastatic skin melanoma.
