Two counterfeits in three months: which banknotes were forged in the Kirov region
According to the press service of the Kirov branch of the Volga-Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia, two Russian banknotes with signs of forgery have been withdrawn from circulation. Among the "trophies" of the banking sector were banknotes of medium denomination: one worth 2000 rubles and the other 1000 rubles.
Branch manager Sergey Kryukov urged residents of the region to remain vigilant when making cash transactions. "Check at least three security features," he advised. "Watermarks should appear when held up to the light, the texture can be felt with your fingers, and when tilted, rainbow stripes or numbers that change color should be visible."
If there are doubts about the authenticity of a banknote, the official application "Banknotes of the Bank of Russia" can be used. The program does not check banknotes independently but contains a complete database of security elements for all banknotes. By comparing a suspicious banknote with the reference features from the app, any buyer or seller can draw their own conclusion.
