The Russian Embassy in Laos announced the gift of two elephants on its Telegram channel. "Russian Ambassador Sergey Zhezkov and Minister of Agriculture and Environment of the Lao PDR Duangsavanh jointly visited the quarantine site in the suburbs of Vientiane, where the two elephant calves, gifted to Russia by the President of the Lao PDR T. Sisoulith, are located," the message states. The agency's Telegram channel also reported that the elephant calves are females named Fovin (Luck) and Namthan (Sugar), noting that the elephant is one of the symbols of Laos, associated with strength, prosperity, and tradition.
