Most Kirov residents are not ready to trade January for long May holidays.
The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation has proposed to redistribute public holidays: to shorten the January holidays in order to make the May holidays continuous — from May 1 to May 9. Spring, according to the authors of the initiative, is more convenient for activities and planning family vacations. However, a survey of analysts on the platform among the economically active population of Kirov showed that the majority of residents do not accept this idea.
54% of Kirov residents are against it. Among the arguments are the possible impact on salaries and the unwillingness to change the traditional winter vacation ("It's better to have a proper rest in winter. There's no need to change anything"). Only 29% of respondents supported the unification, believing that the May weather is more favorable for walks and outdoor recreation.
Men are more favorable towards the proposal: 31% approve, while among women it is 26%. Age preferences also differ. Among respondents under 35 and over 45 years old, the initiative is supported approximately equally (33% and 34%, respectively). However, in the group aged 35 to 45, there are noticeably fewer supporters — only 20%.
The level of education also shows an unexpected gap. Among Kirov residents with secondary vocational education, 40% approve of the idea of unifying the holidays, while among those with higher education, only 29% do.
The most striking trend is the connection with income. Among those earning up to 100,000 rubles a month, 22% of respondents support the initiative. Among those whose salary exceeds 150,000, it is already 42%.
