Fraudsters stole compensation for a deceased soldier in the Special Military Operation from a 67-year-old mother.
The reason for the intervention of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region was a personal reception of citizens held by the deputy head of the supervisory agency, Mikhail Legovets. A 67-year-old pensioner approached him, whose son died while carrying out combat missions in the special military operation zone.
As the investigation revealed, the woman received a compensation payment of 1 million 250 thousand rubles. However, these funds were fraudulently stolen. Based on this fact, investigators opened a criminal case under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on a particularly large scale).
The prosecutor's investigation showed that the stolen money was transferred to bank accounts that were used for subsequent cashing out. The owners of these accounts (so-called droppers) live in the Tver, Ryazan, Chelyabinsk, Novgorod regions, as well as in St. Petersburg.
Since the elderly victim cannot sue on her own due to her age and other life circumstances, the prosecutor filed claims in court. The demand is the same: to recognize the property received by the droppers as unjust enrichment and to recover it for the benefit of the mother of the deceased serviceman.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region stated that they would monitor the results of the consideration of all submitted claims.
