In Yaran, the collapsed roof has still not been repaired: the apartments are flooded.
In February, the roof of a five-story building on Gogol Street, 36, partially collapsed in Yaran. Soon, emergency restoration work began, with 19 million rubles allocated from the regional budget for this. Residents claim that the contractor worked until mid-April and then disappeared, leaving two entrances (the first and third) covered with plastic sheeting. During heavy rains, the sheeting tore. As a result, several apartments were flooded. Wallpaper and ceilings were damaged. Additionally, the contractor removed the downspouts, causing rainwater to run down the facade of the building, and residents fear the brickwork will collapse. According to the contractor, he stopped work due to the lack of a contract. A state examination is required to conclude it, which is not a quick process. Representatives of the People's Front, to whom the residents turned, noted that a state examination is indeed necessary by law. People are left to wait and fight the flooding on their own and with the help of the management company. The Ministry of Energy and Housing and Utilities informed the People's Front that repair work has resumed and leaks have been eliminated. However, according to activists, this is not entirely true — workers briefly appeared and then disappeared again. Activists promised to involve federal colleagues in developing a mechanism to address such issues.
