Oleg Valenchuk: The Koniev Museum – our contribution to preserving historical truth
Recently, students from school No. 27 of class 6-J visited the Koniev Museum. Together with their class teacher Maria Mikhailovna Zhuykova, they went on a tour that left unforgettable impressions. The success of such events is determined not only by the carefully selected material but also by the professionalism of the guides. Interestingly, the guides are the children themselves, who do not just read facts from the biography of Ivan Stepanovich Koniev but immerse their peers in the fascinating world of history, using vivid photographs and little-known details from the life of the legendary commander.
Tours at the Koniev Museum are especially interesting for elementary and middle school students. At this age, children are most receptive to information, and the engaging format of presentation contributes to better material retention. Educators note that such meetings at the museum help not only in studying history but also in developing critical thinking in children. They learn to ask questions, analyze information, and draw conclusions, which is an important aspect of overall development.
– Today we stand together against attempts to rewrite the history of World War II, which are being made by some figures in the West. The Koniev Museum is a symbol of remembrance of the great commander, says Oleg Valenchuk. – It is important for interest in history to continue to grow, and for the younger generation to know about the feats of their ancestors, as this is our shared responsibility to future generations.
Tours at the museum will continue into the summer. If currently the young guides work only on Wednesdays, during the summer holidays the museum will be open for school camps several days a week. You can check the schedule and book a time for a group visit to the Marshal Koniev Museum here.
