Murashko: Russians with obesity will be assisted under compulsory health insurance.
Russian citizens with obesity now have access to surgical assistance under the compulsory health insurance policy, reports RBC, citing the Minister of Health of Russia, Mikhail Murashko. The head of the Ministry of Health made this statement during the IV Congress of the Trade Union of Health Workers of Russia.
At the same congress, Murashko named the diseases that cause the greatest harm to health. Among them are diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.
It is worth noting that, according to the Unified Interagency Information and Statistical System, the Kirov region ranked fourth in Russia for childhood obesity by the end of 2024: the overall incidence of obesity among children aged 0 to 17 per 100,000 people has been steadily increasing: 3,506.4 cases in 2022, 3,655.5 in 2023, and 3,867 in 2024.
