In Novovyatsk, they "pressed" the piles.
The working meeting took place right on Soviet Street — where, possibly in a little over a year, cars will drive under the railway. Right now, the site is noisy, crowded, and dirty. Officials and builders are not focused on comfort: according to the project passport, construction is scheduled from October 11, 2024, to February 2, 2028, but the governor has tasked them with completing the tunnel ahead of schedule, by the summer of 2027.
According to Petryakov, some operations planned for 2027 are already being carried out. They plan to complete the pushing of the protective screen by July-August 2026. And in December, builders may even be able to pass under the tracks. For now, it's on foot and overland, but the very fact will mean that the most difficult stage is behind.
The main volume of work is scheduled for 2026. Heavy horizontal pushing installations are being used to create the tunnel — a technology that is widely applied in Russia, mainly in Moscow. The contractor is the company "Avtoban."
At the same time, work is underway on the ramp part from the side of the receiving pit. Work is being carried out without weekends from both sides — the starting and receiving pits. The quality, according to the customer, meets GOST standards and SNIPs. Both authorial and construction control are organized — specialists evaluate each stage.
The outlines of the future tunnel are already visible. Currently, its height is "three pipes," but in the future, it will be seven. The upper layer forms the future ceiling, making it clearer how the passage will look.
On the approach from Novovyatsk, work is also underway on both sides: sections of land are fenced off, where some piles are simply lying, and elsewhere the ground is being leveled, likely for future landscaping.
Let us remind you that the project has been implemented since 2024. Initially, construction was slowed down by problems with relocating cables, but by the fall of 2025, the pace picked up. The governor then stated that, barring unforeseen circumstances, the tunnel would be completed ahead of schedule. In 2026, funding was increased, and the Ministry of Finance reported billion-ruble expenditures for the first quarter. The total cost of the project is currently estimated at around 6 billion rubles.

In Novovyatsk, they "pressed" the piles.
The piles under the future tunnel are no longer being driven in — they are being pressed in. The technology is complex, but it allows for the train schedule to remain uninterrupted. To date, 30 out of 70 are ready. This was reported at the construction site in Novovyatsk by the Deputy Chairman of the Kirov Region Government, Alexey Petryakov.
