Denis Pletnev was born in 1978 in Kirov in a military family. Since 2001, he served in a unit of the regional FSB department in Kirovo-Chepetsk. In 2004, he was sent on a business trip to Chechnya. According to the agency, on April 15, 2005, in Grozny, during a special operation to search for and eliminate members of illegal armed formations, the group that included Pletnev engaged in combat. The militants offered fierce resistance, using automatic weapons and grenades. The firefight lasted about five hours. During the operation, six terrorists were eliminated. Captain Pletnev, showing courage and bravery, was killed while carrying out a combat mission. It is noted that at the cost of his life, he saved civilians — women and children. For his displayed heroism, Denis Pletnev was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. The FSB emphasized that the memory of the employee and his feat continues to be preserved.
