In Kirov, the court ordered the veterinary service to pay a 15-year-old girl for being bitten by a stray dog.
The prosecutor's office of the Novovyatsky district of Kirov received a statement from the parents of a minor girl who was attacked by a stray animal. As the investigation established, the incident occurred on the afternoon of January 1 near house No. 11 on Syrenevaya Street. A stray dog suddenly pounced on a passerby and bit her severely on the leg.
Due to the injuries sustained, the teenager had to urgently seek medical assistance. The girl's condition and the stress she experienced required not only treatment but also psychological support — the fear and pain from the bite, according to representatives of the supervisory agency, became a serious trial for the minor.
Prosecutors, acting in the child's interest, prepared a lawsuit for compensation for moral damages. Since the legislation places the responsibility for capturing and caring for stray animals on regional veterinary authorities, the responsibility for the attack fell on them. The agency believed that officials did not ensure proper handling of ownerless animals, which led to the tragedy.
The court fully agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor's office. As a result, a monetary sum was awarded from the veterinary authorities of the Kirov region in favor of the injured girl. The amount of compensation for moral damages was 25,000 rubles. The decision has already come into legal force.
