They are planning to deepen the Vyatka River at Green Embankment.

      The Kirov region is preparing for another season of river navigation. Enterprises operating on the Vyatka River are currently finishing scheduled work: some are repairing tugs, some are preparing equipment for dredging, and some are stockpiling gravel. Everything should be ready by May — the start is scheduled for that month.

      One of the main themes of the upcoming navigation is dredging right in the regional center. The technical fleet is already undergoing preparation at the ship repair workshops in the village of Medvedok in the Nolina district. This concerns dredging vessels owned by the Vyatka district of waterways and shipping — a branch of the Federal State Institution "Administration of the Volga Basin of Internal Waterways." As soon as all necessary activities are completed, the equipment will head upstream — to Kirov. Dredging work this year is planned for the section from the cargo port in the village of Bolshaya Gora to the central part of the city, namely — to the area of Naberezhnaya Grina. But that's not all. In addition to new work, this year they will also maintain guaranteed parameters of the shipping channel in those sections of the river where they were established in previous seasons.

      At the same time, in another village of the Nolina district — Arkule — preparations for the cargo fleet are underway. There is a ship repair enterprise of the Vyatka River Shipping Company. During the inter-navigation period, scheduled repairs of tugboats and barge platforms are being carried out here. These vessels will be involved in organizing cargo transportation on the Vyatka from May to October.

      A separate topic is cargo. As part of the pilot project "Chimbulat Quarry," the necessary volume of gravel has already been prepared for the upcoming navigation. This material is intended for consumers in the Kirov urban agglomeration.

      Dredging work on the Vyatka is not new for the region. It began several years ago, and during this time, as reported by the press service of the Kirov region government, significant results have been achieved. Parameters of the shipping channel have been established in several sections of the river, which has allowed the resumption of cargo transportation from Sovetsk to Kirov. Gravel has been transported along this route for two years — it is also being used for the implementation of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." In addition, the dimensions of the shipping channel have been established from the border with the Republic of Tatarstan to Vyatskiye Polyany. Now passenger ships can arrive there, which was previously impossible.

      Upon completion of all work this year, the total length of sections of the Vyatka River with guaranteed dimensions of the shipping channel will be 68 kilometers. Navigation, as usual, will last from May to October. According to the regional Ministry of Transport, which conducted an on-site inspection of all facilities, enterprises are ready for the season. Some activities are still being completed, but, as explained by the head of the transport department of the ministry, Arthur Derishev, everything will be done by the beginning of May.
