Residents of the Kirov region "emptied" their piggy banks of nearly half a ton of coins.
Analysts have summarized the preliminary results of the spring cash acceptance marathon that took place in the regions of the Volga Federal District from April 6 to 18. It turned out that residents of the Kirov region showed a serious attitude towards the "iron" reserve: they extracted more than 400 kg of coins from their home piggy banks and wallets.
To be precise, the weight that the Kirov residents carried amounted to 409 kg. For comparison, this is about the weight of a modern compact car. But it's not just about weight: the total amount of money returned in the region exceeded 400,000 rubles, and the number of coins submitted surpassed 104,000 pieces. Based on these indicators, the region ranked in the top 4 of the district, yielding only to the Nizhny Novgorod region, Chuvashia, and Bashkortostan.
In total, as reported by the press service of Rosselkhozbank, nearly 5 tons of small change returned to circulation in the district — equivalent to two SUVs. If all the submitted coins (which numbered over a million pieces) were lined up in a single row, it would create a path 24 kilometers long. Walking along it would take about 5 hours.
Most often, residents of the district parted with 10-ruble coins — nearly 329,000 pieces were counted.
By the way, for those who didn't manage to participate in the campaign or have just now decided to tidy up their piggy banks, there is a second chance. Earlier, Newsler.ru reported that from April 6 to 18, a new "Coin Week" started in Kirov. Residents of the region can once again exchange their annoying small change for banknotes or deposit it into their accounts at banks or spend it in the city's stores.
