Unemployment in the Kirov region has decreased to 1.6%.
In 2025, the workforce in the Kirov region amounted to 581.1 thousand people. Of these, 571.7 thousand were employed, while 9.4 thousand were recognized as unemployed according to the methodology of the International Labour Organization. The employment rate reached 60.1%, while the unemployment rate was 1.6%, which is 0.4 percentage points lower than the previous year.
It is noted that the employment rate in cities is higher than in rural areas — 61.5% compared to 55.3%. A similar difference is observed in unemployment: in villages, it is almost twice as high (2.7%) as in cities (1.3%).
Women make up 48% of the total number of employed. They dominate in the fields of education (84%), healthcare and social services (82%), as well as trade (71%). Men, in turn, are more likely to work in construction (96%) and manufacturing (68%).
The average age of the employed was 43 years, while the unemployed was 41 years. Almost all workers (92%) are of working age. Among those who continue to work after retirement, women prevail.
The majority of the region's residents are employed — about 92%. Another 7% are engaged in entrepreneurial activities, and 13% work for individual entrepreneurs and in farms.
On average, job searching in 2025 took 3.8 months. At the same time, about 8% of the unemployed searched for work for more than a year. Most often, residents of the region found vacancies through personal connections (81%), as well as through media and the internet (60%).
