Russians are mass-checking "sorrel" and "catalog."

      The portal "Gramota.ru" compiled a list of 20 words for which Russians most often check the correct stress. Among the top were, in particular, the words "shoe," "blinds," and "provision."

      It is noted that in 2025, interest in a number of words has noticeably increased. Users most often searched for how to correctly pronounce "sorrel" (+75.9%), "more beautiful" (+66.9%), "catalog" (+66.4%), "petition" (+65.2%), "wholesale" (+64.7%).

      At the same time, interest in some words has decreased. Users checked the stress less frequently in the words "beet" (−40.4%), "indulge" (−27%), "phenomenon" (−19.1%), "quarter" (−17.4%), "provision" (−5.9%), and "contract" (−1.6%).

      Users also often search for how to correctly write and pronounce borrowed words, such as "cashback," "shortlist," and "offline."
