Russia will ban gasoline exports starting April 1.
Starting April 1, Russia will impose a ban on gasoline exports. As reported by RBC, this decision was made against the backdrop of rising fuel prices and the approach of the high-demand season.
According to the government, the measure is aimed at stabilizing the situation in the market and ensuring priority fuel supplies within the country. The Ministry of Energy has already been instructed to prepare the corresponding decree.
Initially, it was planned that the restrictions would be partial and last until the end of July; however, the authorities decided to tighten the measures. Previously, exports had already been restricted: a ban was in effect from the fall of 2025 and was partially lifted in January 2026.
The reason for the new decision was the rise in exchange prices. Since the beginning of March, gasoline prices have increased by approximately 11%, and retail prices continued to rise. According to the latest data, the average price of gasoline reached 66.5 rubles per liter.
Experts note that there is currently no fuel shortage, but the market situation remains tense. Among the reasons are early warming, seasonal demand growth, and rising global energy resource prices.
Recall that in early February, the government introduced exceptions to the extended ban on fuel exports, allowing direct producers to resume the export of gasoline and diesel fuel under intergovernmental agreements and long-term contracts.
