Kirov stores are hurrying Easter.
In Kirov, stores have already started selling Easter cakes — almost three weeks before the holiday. Meanwhile, in 2026, Easter falls on April 12, which raises questions among residents: will the product spoil, and is there any point in buying it in advance?
Newsler.ru expressed the opinion of priest Andrey Lebedev from the Vyatka Diocese on this matter. He called such early sales a "false start." According to him, the blessing of Easter food traditionally takes place on the eve of the holiday — starting from April 11, and consuming the cakes makes sense only with the arrival of Easter.
"If we are talking about pre-orders, and the cakes will be baked right before the holiday — that’s fine. But if the products are already on the shelves now, then either they will spoil if made from natural ingredients, or they have a 'very chemical' composition," the priest noted.
He also emphasized that there is no need to rush to buy and especially to consume the cakes: "You can only eat from April 12 — before that, there is neither sense nor benefit."
The clergyman reminded that before Easter, it is important for believers to focus on other significant dates in the church calendar — Palm Sunday and the events of Holy Week. And the cakes themselves, in his opinion, are better bought closer to the holiday or made at home together with loved ones.

The priest warns: such haste can lead to either spoiled products or questionable ingredients — and it's not worth consuming them before their time.
