Airports will change the rules for passenger service.
The changes were approved by the Ministry of Transport and are aimed at simplifying movement and boarding on flights, reports Obyasnyaem.RF. Under the new rules, passengers with disabilities will be invited to board the aircraft first. Airport staff will also be required to assist such passengers — including during check-in, security screening, and handling carry-on luggage. Airports will be required to post information on their official websites about where and how to obtain assistance. Another change concerns electric wheelchairs. Passengers will be allowed to use their own chair until boarding, rather than checking it in advance as before. However, the rule does not apply to wheelchairs with non-removable batteries. In addition, the design and construction of new airports must now include designated areas for walking guide dogs.
