A woman from Kirov has been trying for four years to get mold removed from her apartment.
Nadezhda Beznosikova purchased the apartment with a mortgage. About six months after moving in, black mold appeared in the rooms. The mold is spreading in the children's room and the living room, damaging furniture, clothing, and household items. The family has two minor children who, according to their mother, have been getting sick more often.
During the cold season the apartment's temperature does not exceed 17 degrees Celsius. Due to high humidity, residents have to regularly dry the walls with a heater. Surfaces are treated for mold every two weeks, and repairs are carried out annually.
Inspections revealed falling brickwork and that the walls do not meet thermal protection requirements. The court ordered the management company to rectify the violations, but the management company terminated the contract and did not carry out the work. In the autumn the building was transferred to another management company, but the situation did not change.
Similar violations were found in other apartments in the building. The residents turned to the People's Front for help. According to public activists, the state housing inspectorate recorded violations by the new management company. If they are not remedied, a lawsuit to compel compliance with the orders is possible.
In addition, residents were advised to go to court to recover penalties from the former management company for failure to comply with the court ruling. Monitoring of the situation continues.
