Vyatka State University helps regional enterprises find young specialists.

      Over nearly two decades, changing its name and adapting to the pulse of the labor market, the unit has kept its primary focus unchanged.

      "First and foremost, the VyatGU Career Center is a linking element between the university and the labor market. We continue to assist our students in finding employment: we are always in contact with employers, gather information about in-demand specialists, and forecast future demand for them," notes the head of the VyatGU Career Center, Ilya Bannikov.

      In 2025 the Center reformatted its work, placing greater emphasis on the quality of employment, which implies seeking better working conditions with decent pay. To this end, VyatGU Career Center staff are actively developing cooperation with the employment center, conducting employment monitoring of graduates and students with a study into "work in one's field," and have updated the algorithms for holding employment events for the university's graduates and students.

      "We are working so that upon completing their studies a student will have not only a place of employment, but also an understanding of their career prospects, as well as the necessary cross-professional skills. Many of our students are already successful young specialists by the time they receive their diploma, and we strive to increase their number to 100%," shared Ilya Konstantinovich.

      Vyatka State University is an active participant in national projects supporting entrepreneurship and social development. The university implements the federal program "Startup as a Diploma." Last year 42 VyatGU students defended their final qualification works in this format. The university not only supports this format of defense, but also informs about possible financing options for graduation projects. For example, obtaining a social contract from the Department of Social Protection.

      "A graduate who meets the social contract criteria can receive start-up capital (up to 350,000 rubles) to launch their business. Thus, a young specialist leaves the university not only with a diploma, but with a project backed by financial support, which significantly increases their competitiveness in the labor market," emphasized Ilya Bannikov.

      Employers from a wide range of sectors contact the VyatGU Career Center daily. They include: the Ministry of Social Development of the Kirov Region, JSC "Krasny Yakor," TSK Motor, JSC "Novo-Vyatka," JSC "LEPSE," LLC "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Kirov," KOGKU "Kirov Regional Fire and Rescue Service," LLC Special Developer "Zheleznо Kirov," Onviz, the Territorial Body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Kirov Region (Kirovstat), and many others.

      "The labor market now is a jobseeker's market, where companies are truly hunting for young talent. Among our regular partners are flagships of the regional and federal economy. These are, without doubt, enterprises of the machine-building cluster, the defense and chemical industries. We actively cooperate with the IT sector, the banking sphere and government bodies," said Ilya Konstantinovich.

      The VyatGU Career Center's interaction with employers is built on several levels:

      presentation of organizations in the digital career environment and posting vacancies;

      participation in job fairs, career events, final thesis defenses and diploma ceremonies;

      organization of career guidance meetings, competitions and other events with employers' participation.

      "We build partnerships rather than simply sending out resumes. We participate in employers' events, whether an open day or a careers fair — we always try to be with the students in order to know the most current information and convey it," explained Ilya Bannikov.

      Ilya Konstantinovich explained how companies can find a promising young specialist through the VyatGU Career Center:

      "The fastest way is to send us information via the electronic job fair or the 'Fakultetus' platform. Do not neglect partner platforms, such as HeadHunter.

      We are always in touch and ready to discuss various forms of cooperation: from simply posting a vacancy on our social media to organizing a separate company presentation for target courses. Companies are ready to offer our students decent conditions for work and development, and we are ready to help them find specialists. We also recommend beginning the search for future employees as early as the first year of their studies and concluding targeted agreements, since by graduation many students are already employed."

      Vyatka State University offers education in more than 110 fields of study, ensuring up to 95% employment of its graduates. We are confident that every enterprise in the region will find a valuable employee within the walls of the largest university in the Kirov Region, and the VyatGU Career Center will gladly provide comprehensive support in this.
