On Friday, January 17, fire and rescue units of the Kirov Region responded to a number of incidents. The most serious was a fire in the Urzhumsky District. The blaze occurred in the village of Shurma in a private residential house, covering an area of 36 sq. m. On site were 7 personnel and two pieces of equipment from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the regional fire and rescue service. One person died as a result of the fire. According to preliminary reports, the tragedy was caused by carelessness while smoking. In addition, between 6:00 on January 16 and 6:00 on January 17, two road traffic accidents and other emergency incidents were recorded in the region.
