Kirov residents are in no hurry to convert their salaries into digital rubles.
The experiment with the digital ruble has been declared successful, and its mass rollout in Russia is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026. However, residents of the Kirov region remain noticeably cautious about the new form of the national currency.
According to a survey, only 12% of economically active residents of the Kirov region are willing to convert their entire salary into digital rubles. Another 9% agree to receive only part of their income in the new format. At the same time, the majority of respondents — 63% — oppose the payment of wages in digital currency.
It turned out that men are more receptive to the digital ruble than women. Thus, 15% of men are willing to receive their entire salary in digital format, and another 11% agree to a partial transfer of income. Among women the figures were lower — 9% and 7%, respectively.
Younger residents of the region are also more open to financial innovations. In the under‑35 age group, 15% are ready to receive their entire salary in digital rubles, and another 11% — part of their earnings. In the 35–45 age category these figures are 12% and 8%, and among Kirov residents over 45 — only 8% and 7%.
