Three fires broke out in the Kirov region within 24 hours: one person and dozens of animals died.
Over the past 24 hours, on January 7, the region's fire and rescue units extinguished three man-made fires, the regional office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) reported.
In Kotel'nichsky District, an outbuilding where domestic animals were kept caught fire near the village of Tokaevy. By the time rescuers arrived, the structure was completely engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished over an area of about 50 sq m; the spread of the flames to other buildings was prevented. According to preliminary information, the cause was a short circuit in the electrical wiring. No people were injured, but more than 20 goats and chickens died, as well as several rabbits and quails.
Another fire occurred in the village of Gurenki in Belokholunitsky District. In a two-unit residential house, one of the apartments caught fire over an area of 6 sq m. One person died as a result of the incident. The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
