Russia's Interior Ministry: driver's licenses will no longer be renewed automatically.

      The press service of the Russian Interior Ministry reminded that, as of January 1, 2026, the automatic renewal of driver's licenses in Russia will be discontinued. This applies to documents whose validity expired or expires during the period from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025. Previously, they were extended for three years without the need for replacement. Such licenses were considered valid throughout the country. As of January 1, 2026, automatic renewal is canceled, and drivers with expired licenses will have to undergo the standard replacement procedure. The Interior Ministry also reminded that driving a vehicle with an invalid license carries a fine of 5,000 to 15,000 rubles.
