Shovels at the ready: Kirov Oblast will be hit by a series of cyclones in January

In the first half of January, the weather in Kirov Oblast will be determined by a series of southern cyclones, the Telegram channel "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov" reports.

According to forecasts, the atmospheric vortices will arrive in quick succession from the first days of the month. The exact tracks of the cyclones are still being refined, so it is difficult to specify in advance the exact amounts of precipitation and the temperature regime for individual districts of the oblast. However, amateur meteorologists are confident that, overall, the region will face a period of abundant precipitation, gusty winds and noticeable temperature fluctuations.

The first cyclone will approach Kirov Oblast on January 3. Light to moderate snowfalls are expected through the morning of January 5. Although precipitation intensity will not be very high, its duration will lead to the formation of a new snow cover.

A second, more active cyclone is forecast for the period from January 8 to 10. It may bring heavy snowfall as well as freezing rain. A sharp drop in temperature after its passage is possible.

According to meteorological observations, after January 8 the likelihood of an Arctic outbreak in the wake of the cyclones is considered high. In that scenario, temperatures in Kirov Oblast could fall to −30°C.

Amateur meteorologists advise residents of the region to be prepared for difficult weather conditions and, as the authors of the forecast themselves note, "stock up on shovels."
