More than 500 salt licks for wild animals have been installed in the forests of Kirov Oblast.
As reported by the government of Kirov Oblast, in 2025 hunters sowed 76 hectares of forage fields, made 74 salt licks for moose and 450 for hares, and also installed two stationary feeders for wild boar. In addition, they laid out 38 tonnes of grain in wildlife feeders and refilled 162 previously installed salt licks with salt.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection explained that natural sources of salt in the wild are scarce, so animals have to search for it in hard-to-reach places. Such supplementary feeding is especially important at the end of winter and in spring — the period when pregnant and nursing females urgently need it.
They also installed 114 information signs in the forests of Kirov Oblast.
