Kirov has published a calendar of winter events for January and February.

      The calendar was prepared by the Department of Culture. It includes more than 120 events (6+), which will take place both at outdoor city venues and in cultural, educational and sports institutions. The program features citywide celebrations, family events, concerts, festivals, contests, exhibitions, sporting competitions and events as part of nationwide campaigns.

      Until the end of February, concerts, quizzes and fairs are planned on Spasskaya pedestrian street. On January 4 and 5, New Year walking tours for residents will be held on the themes “Theatrical Vyatka,” “The City of Fulfilled Wishes” and “Tales of the City.” On January 1, residents of Kirov will be able to take part not only in festive discos but also in the traditional “Run of Promises,” which will be held in Kochurovsky Park and on the Grin Embankment.

      Plays and New Year performances have been prepared for children and teenagers in the city’s cultural institutions. Major sporting events will also take place in January and February: on January 10 — regional chess competitions for the Governor’s Cup of the Kirov Region; from January 15 to 17 — all‑Russian sambo competitions in memory of coach Alexey Sobakinskikh; and on February 14 — “Ski Track of Russia – 2026.”

      A separate series of events is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Saltykov‑Shchedrin and to the period of his life associated with Vyatka. The administration noted that the calendar will be updated throughout the year, and citizens may send suggestions for its content to the Department of Culture.
