January in Kirov Oblast promises to be "without surprises".
As reported on the Telegram channel "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov", the forecast was prepared by the Russian Hydrometeorological Center together with the Main Geophysical Observatory based on the PLAV+GGO model. A map of near-surface air temperature anomalies (T2m) has been published, showing deviations from long-term mean values.
According to the image, a large part of Siberia and the northeast of Russia could be warmer than normal in January — in places by 2–4°C. At the same time, several regions of Europe are forecast to experience temperature anomalies of up to 2–4°C below normal. The central part of Russia, including the Kirov region, lies in an area where no significant deviations from climatological values are expected.
For the Kirov region, the climatological norm for the mean monthly temperature in January is −11.5°C.
Meteorologists note that this forecast is preliminary and will be refined as new model data become available.
