Putin signed a decree on the military draft for 2026.

      Recently President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On the conscription in 2026 of citizens of the Russian Federation for military service and on the discharge from military service of citizens serving under conscription.” The document says that in 2026 conscription for military service will take place throughout the calendar year. It concerns citizens aged 18 to 30 who are not in the reserve.

      During the specified period there will be health examinations, professional psychological screening, as well as meetings of conscription commissions. Dispatch to places of military service will be carried out twice a year (from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31). The decree also states that the authorities expect to conscript 261,000 people.
