Vera Alentova, the star of the film "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears," has died.
According to the newspaper Kommersant, on the morning of December 25 Alentova was present at the farewell ceremony for actor Anatoly Lobotsky at the Mayakovsky Theatre. During the event she became ill, after which the actress was taken away by ambulance. Later her death was reported.
Vera Alentova was born in Kotlas, Arkhangelsk Oblast, and had served in the troupe of the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theatre (MDT) since 1965. She made her film debut in 1965, but gained all‑Union fame thanks to the lead role in the film Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears (18+), directed by her husband, director Vladimir Menshov. In total, the actress’s filmography includes more than 30 roles.
