Scammers posing as marketplace employers took out microloans in the name of a resident of Falyonki.
As the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kirov Oblast reported, a woman posted a résumé online indicating her willingness to work as a marketplace manager. Soon an unknown person wrote to her on Telegram and offered her a job as a chat moderator for a large online store.
After the victim agreed, the interlocutor sent a link to install an application supposedly necessary for the job. To begin using the program she was required to enter personal data and the number of the bank card to which her salary was to be paid. This alarmed the resident of Falyonki, so she deleted the app and the correspondence.
A few days later the woman tried to pay for a purchase on a marketplace but was unable to do so. Support told her that a purchase in the amount of 30,000 rubles had previously been paid from her account, although she had not placed any orders. Soon she began receiving messages from microfinance organizations about approved loans, as well as a notice of delinquency on a microloan.
Later the victim found out that her account on the Gosuslugi portal had been hacked and access to it blocked. In addition, loans totaling more than 63,000 rubles were taken out in her name at several microlending organizations.
The woman went to the police. A criminal case has been opened. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds residents of the region to be cautious when communicating with strangers on social networks and messaging apps, not to share personal data and not to install unknown applications.
