Inmates and staff of the Federal Penitentiary Service helped Kirov's "Wet Nose" shelter.
In Kirov, penal system staff and convicts serving sentences of compulsory labor visited the "Wet Nose" shelter, where they took part in a volunteer action. They cleaned the enclosures, bagged wood shavings, cleared ice from the walkways, assembled a cart for transporting heavy loads, moved dog houses and walked the animals.
In addition to physical help, UFSIN staff collected funds. They used them to repay the shelter’s debt at the veterinary clinic and to pay the cook’s wages.
Also, one of the participants in the action, an employee of UFIC No. 1, Viktoria Araslanova, took an adult dog from the shelter that requires special care due to joint problems and poor eyesight. The animal was taken to a groomer and a veterinarian; it now lives with her family.
Earlier, a film about this shelter was released on the Newsler.ru website. You can watch it here.
