A pensioner from Kirov accidentally became a millionaire.
Pensioner Vasily from Kirov won 1 million rubles in the national lottery. He bought the ticket at a Russian Post branch, where he usually buys a TV guide and one lottery ticket "for the week." As the man said, while checking the ticket he thought he had won 10,000 rubles and went to the post office to collect the payout. However, an unexpected turn awaited him there. "You've won more," the branch employee told him, after which Vasily learned about the million-ruble win. According to the pensioner, he has been playing the lottery for a long time, but previously his biggest win was 700 rubles. He even has his own strategy: he chooses tickets so that the number 40 always appears in the numeric field and digits do not repeat consecutively. Vasily has already decided how to spend the winnings. "I have three children — I'll give each of them 100,000 rubles. There will still be enough left to repair the car and go to a resort," he says.
