In Kirov, they checked how new Russian citizens fulfill their military service obligations.
On October 31, an interagency inspection of compliance with migration legislation was conducted at the Central Market in Kirov. The raid involved officers from the military investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kirov garrison and the police.
According to the agency, men of conscription age who have acquired Russian citizenship are required, within two weeks after taking the oath, to report to the military enlistment office and register for military service. However, investigators say not everyone complies with this requirement.
Similar checks are carried out across the country, including at markets, depots, construction sites and retail outlets where former migrants who have already received Russian passports work. With the acquisition of citizenship they receive not only rights but also obligations.
“During today’s inspection at the Central Market in the city of Kirov, it was established that persons who had previously violated migration legislation are registered for military service with the city’s military enlistment offices,” the military investigative department noted.
According to the agency, several dozen violators have been identified in the Kirov region since the beginning of the year. All of them were registered for military service and were also held administratively liable.
