The State Duma passed a law on the training of medical personnel.
A bill aimed at ensuring the healthcare system is supplied with qualified specialists has been adopted in Russia. It will make it possible to reduce the staffing shortage in medical institutions, the Duma believes.
The Ministry of Health will establish a list of medical specialties for which mentorship will be introduced. It will become mandatory for graduates of universities and colleges who have passed initial accreditation. The length of the mentorship will depend on the specialty and the place where the young specialist works. It cannot exceed three years.
During the mentorship, medical professionals will be able to work in organizations participating in the compulsory medical insurance system, and targeted enrollees — in institutions where they are obliged to work under contract. After this period ends, specialists will undergo re-accreditation.
The law also provides for changes to the rules for targeted admissions to medical universities. Now 70% of places will be targeted and 30% state-funded. At the same time, residency will become entirely targeted. In addition, a separate competition will be introduced for students entering medical colleges under targeted placements.
