      Olga Kanakova, director of the Regional House of Folk Art and an honored cultural worker of Kirov Oblast, is ending her career and retiring. Over more than 40 years in the cultural sphere she progressed from working in a rural House of Culture to leading a regional institution, where in the past six years many major cultural events and festivals have taken place, including those timed to coincide with the 650th anniversary of Kirov. Deputy Chair of the Government of Kirov Oblast Svetlana Shumaylova noted Olga Kanakova’s contribution to the development of the region’s cultural life and thanked her for many years of service. According to the press service of the government of Kirov Oblast, from October 28 the new director of the Regional House of Folk Art will be Sergey Kataev. He has also devoted more than 30 years to culture, began his career in the same institution, has received awards from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and was entered on the Honor Roll of civil servants of Kirov Oblast. Sergey Kataev previously worked in the region’s Ministry of Culture and will head the House of Folk Art with considerable experience and authority.
