The prosecutor's office and the ombudsman inspected the conditions of detention of prisoners at Colony No. 5.

      A joint inspection was held in Kirovo-Chepetsk by representatives of the regional prosecutor’s office and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Kirov Region. According to the prosecutor’s press service, the inspection included Kirov’s prosecutor for oversight of compliance with the law in correctional institutions, Vadim Dolgikh, and the ombudsman Alexander Panov.

      The inspection took place at Correctional Facility No. 5 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Kirov Region. During the visit, representatives of the prosecutor’s office and the ombudsman inspected the colony’s grounds, dormitory premises, and also held personal meetings with inmates. Each complaint received was met with explanations of the legislation to the citizens.

      In addition, the inspectors assessed the organization of food services, utilities, and the material and everyday living support of the inmates. The results obtained will be used in the prosecutor’s further supervisory work.

      The agency noted that such cooperation between the prosecutor’s office and the public in the sphere of protecting the rights of inmates will continue.
