Russian pensioners who receive insurance payments in the first days of the month will get their pension twice in December — for December and January. This was said by Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, RBC reports. According to him, this is due to the long New Year holidays — from December 31 to January 11 — when banks and post offices will not be operating. Therefore the first payment will be received at the beginning of December and the second at the end of the month. In addition, from January 1, 2026, insurance pensions will increase by 7.6%, which will exceed the rate of inflation. The average payment amount will be 27.1 thousand rubles, the increase about 2 thousand rubles. Earlier Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that from 2026 insurance pensions will be indexed twice a year, and that indexation of payments for working pensioners will also be restored.
