On October 21, a comet will fly past Earth.
Astronomers note that the celestial body is unlikely to be visible to the naked eye. However, astrophotographers and astronomy enthusiasts equipped with a telescope or a camera with a fast lens will be able to observe the comet. Observation will require a tripod and a clear, starry night away from major cities.
According to experts, Lemmon has likely reached its peak brightness, and expectations that it would become the bright "comet of the year" were overestimated. Its brightness is significantly lower than that of the famous comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS), which could be seen with the naked eye in autumn 2024.
Nevertheless, observations of the comet will continue through late October and into early November. It can be found in the region of the constellation Bootes, near the bright star Arcturus. Specialists recommend using the Stellarium or Star Walk 2 apps to locate it.
