Rakhim Azimov: Masters of the Vyatka Region — a project that unites generations
The project is aimed at supporting senior artisans and preserving the folk artistic traditions of the Vyatka land.
The event brought together participants from the Zuevsky, Falensky and Orichevsky districts, ZATO Pervomaysky, and the Oktyabrsky and Pervomaysky districts of the city of Kirov. The exhibition featured beaded and birch-bark items, woven runners, knitted shawls, and compositions made from natural and improvised materials. The artisans skillfully combined traditional and modern techniques, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship and a love for their work.
Over the course of the year, qualifying exhibition-competitions were held as part of the "Masters of the Vyatka Region" project. More than 300 senior artisans from 24 municipalities in the region, passionate about decorative and applied arts, took part. The project's events were attended by over 1,000 people.
In a greeting to the participants, State Duma deputy Rakhim Azimov noted:
"Our veterans are active, passionate and sincere people. Whatever you undertake, you always do it from the heart. The 'Masters of the Vyatka Region' project has once again shown that the older generation remains the guardian of the finest traditions. You inspire, pass on your experience to the young, and preserve the artisan traditions of the Vyatka land."
According to Irina Shubina, chair of the Kirov regional veterans' organization, the project was initiated by the participants themselves. Rakhim Azimov responded to the proposal, providing support for its implementation and securing the necessary funding.
"We wanted not only to show that the Vyatka land is rich in talent and gifted individuals, but also to share our experience with the youth — our children and grandchildren. Thanks to Rakhim Azimov's support, all our initiatives come to life. His attention is an expression of care that helps representatives of the older generation live actively and with interest," she said.
The project will conclude with a ceremonial event in Kirov. At the end of the year there will be a final gathering to honor and award the best artisans.
The "Masters of the Vyatka Region" project is being carried out in the region with the support of Rakhim Azimov and has become one of the key platforms for preserving craft traditions, fostering creative exchange, and promoting mutual understanding between generations.
