Igor Ronzhin, beaten in August, is undergoing treatment; the investigation into the assassination attempt continues.

As reported by Sergey Mamaev, head of the CPRF faction in the Legislative Assembly of Kirov Oblast, Ronzhin is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.

“He is being treated now. His condition seems more or less normal. He went there (to the hospital — ed.) for two weeks; he’s at home now, but later he will have to go back for a consultation. There is a problem with his eye,” Mamaev said.

According to him, the investigation into the assassination attempt is progressing, but so far without tangible results.

“The case is progressing very quietly. Apparently they have followed a lead, but there are no tangible results. For now we’re waiting. That is why I am not holding a press conference. We definitely plan to hold one as soon as there are concrete outcomes. The investigation is being monitored — by me and by the party,” he emphasized.

      Reminder

The attack on Igor Ronzhin took place on the evening of August 4 in Sosnovka, Vyatskopolyansky District, near his mother’s house. Unknown assailants sprayed a liquid, reportedly acid, into his face and neck and then beat him. The politician suffered severe chemical burns to his eyes, face, and body.

Immediately after the incident he was taken to the ophthalmological hospital in Kirov, where doctors performed several operations in an attempt to save his sight. It later emerged that the attack had been planned since February.

The CPRF says the party is keeping the situation under control and that those who ordered the assassination attempt must be held accountable.
