Red caviar is getting cheaper in Russia.

The average price of red caviar in Russia has fallen to 9.4 thousand rubles per kilogram — the first time since the end of last year, Rosstat reports.

For comparison: in August a kilogram of the delicacy cost about 9.5 thousand, and in December 2024 — 9.2 thousand. Experts attribute the price decline to a successful salmon run: this year fishermen caught significantly more fish than last year, when figures were the worst in the past 20 years.

According to VARPE forecasts, the total volume of roe by the end of the season may reach around 21 thousand tonnes — about a third more than a year earlier. Specialists believe the increased supply will help keep moderate prices for the "red gold" at least until the end of the year.
