Kirovpaper plans to modernize its wastewater treatment facilities after problems with the Medyanka River.

The existing treatment facilities at Kirovpeiper, built several decades ago, no longer meet the required standards for wastewater discharge into the Medyanka River. This was reported by Timur Abashev, Minister of Environmental Protection of the Kirov Region, after a meeting with the company’s management.

According to the minister, the company is ready to develop a project to modernize the treatment system. Negotiations are currently underway with manufacturers of modern equipment to choose the most effective solution.

"The implementation of the project will significantly reduce the burden on the Medyanka and Vyatka rivers. We support Kirovpeiper's initiative and will place the project's implementation under special supervision," Abashev said.

It should be noted that regulatory authorities previously drew up a protocol on violations of environmental requirements at Kirovpeiper. The document will be sent to court for consideration of the possible suspension of the company's activities due to pollution of the Medyanka River.
